Five Voices

HOMO EXPO features five pieces by five different writers, beginning with four monologues. The authors:

Alec Mapa is a comedian and actor, perhaps best known for his recurring role on the TV series "Desperate Housewives." He was the first Asian gay regular on a TV sitcom in "Half and Half." Denise Uyehara is an award-winning performance artist, writer, and playwright whose work has been presented internationally. Her work investigates what it means to be a woman, an Asian American, a bisexual, and human being, not necessarily in that order. Craig Hickman is a poet, actor, dancer, activist and educator. He brought his critically acclaimed and popular solo performance pieces, skin & ornaments, Portraits of a Black Queen and SisterGirl!, to over twenty universities, festivals, and progressive venues across the country. S. Bear Bergman is the author of Butch Is A Noun, and "a writer, a theater artist, an instigator, a gender-jammer, and a good example of what happens when you overeducate a contrarian." Bear is also a frequent lecturer and at colleges and universities regarding issues relating to gender and sexuality, and has advised the staff of numerous institutions on their policies regarding transgendered and transsexual students.
