“Even as an undergraduate English major I just loved this play,” says Rae Robison, assistant professor in the Theatre, Film & Dance department at HSU, and the director of The Winter’s Tale. “I spent a lot of time with it when I was taking a particular Shakespeare class. It’s Shakespeare’s last romantic comedy, but it’s often overlooked. I wanted to do something that people don’t often see.”
“It walks a fine line between some very serious issues—jealousy, revenge and murder—and the comic elements later in the play. From a literature standpoint, I loved the language, the musicality. And then it’s a wonderful drama, which makes the theatre geek in me very excited.” [continued following photos]
