Open Auditions for the musical BRIGADOON

Friday, April, 29, 2011, 6:00-8:00 p.m. – Music 131

[Note: Auditioners need attend only one evening of the open auditions but must be available at 7:30 on that evening for the dance portion of the audition.]

Preparation
Music: For open auditions, prepare no more than one refrain (plus introductory verse if desired) of a song from the musical theatre canon. An accompanist and CD player will be provided. If you choose to use the accompanist, bring clearly marked, legible sheet music. For callbacks, sheet music from the show will be provided.

Monologue: For open auditions, prepare a monologue no more than one minute in length. Memorization is recommended, but auditioners may read from a prepared script. For callbacks, scenes and monologues from the show will be provided.

Movement/Dance/Combat: For open auditions, auditioners will be asked to participate in group movement/dance auditions. For callbacks, this aspect of the auditions also will include combat choreography for some individuals. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement.

NOTE: PERFORMANCE OF MUSIC/MONOLOGUES MAY BE CUT OFF IF THEY RUN TOO LONG. THIS WILL BE NO REFLECTION ON THE QUALITY OF YOUR AUDITION.

Scripts are available for checkout in the Theatre, Film & Dance main office (Theatre Arts Room 20). Scores are not available.

7:00-9:00 p.m.: Music 131 – Vocal and scene work
[Note: Auditioners must arrive promptly at 6:00 p.m. for the movement/dance/combat segment of the audition.]

Performance Dates

October 13-15 and 20-22, 2011, at 7:30 p.m.
Matinees: Sunday October 16 and 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m.
School Matinee: Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.

Characters

Brigadoon is a large cast show where the ensemble is a highly-featured and integral element of the production. Most roles require dance and/or singing to varying degrees. Some listed roles are non-speaking.
