The HSU 10 Minute Play Festival was begun in 1998 by Margaret Thomas Kelso as head of the Dramatic Writing program. It was originally a classroom event, but soon moved to the black box theatres in Gist and then to Gist Hall Theatre, where it became a regular and very popular show on the annual HSU Theatre, Film & Dance performance schedule.
The Festival was always associated with advanced playwriting classes as well as beginning playwriting. Class offerings have changed, so there is no 10 Minute Play Festival on next year’s schedule. The following photos are from the publicity photo shoots for the past six festivals, some never made public before.
