Who is Venus?
An African woman, a freak, an object of derision and desire, a captive, a survivor, a lover, a puzzle, a challenge, a mirror reflecting prejudices and preconceptions, suppressed fears and hidden yearnings... In this searing and surprising multidimensional play by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks, she is seen as all these and more.
VENUS is performed for one week only: Wednesday through Saturday February 8-11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. in the Gist Hall Theatre on the HSU campus in Arcata. Tickets are $10/$8 with a limited number of free seats to HSU students at each performance, from HSU Box Office (826-3928) or at the door. Directed by Jean O'Hara, produced by HSU Department of Theatre, Film & Dance.
Media previews: Humboldt State Now, Tri-City Weekly, North Coast Journal, the Lumberjack, Arcata Eye.
